Men’s Soccer Dominates Iowa Wesleyan
The Westminster men’s soccer team dominated Iowa Wesleyan Wednesday night to extend their win streak to four games. The 15-0 win completes the Westminster Blue Jays completed fifth shutout this season and moves them to 4-0 in conference and 6-6 overall.
Freshman Dustin Seibolt scored the first goal for the Blue Jays off assists from freshman Mauricio Mateo and senior Connor Hollrah in the 8th minute of the game.
Hollrah dribbled through the defense and shot a low ball into the middle of the net to take a 2-0 lead in the 14th minute.
Senior Kevin Knobbe scored two goals just a minute apart, and Mateo scored in the 21st minute with the assist by sophomore Tripp Sheehan.
Sophomore Keagan Cavanah scored two goals with both assists coming from sophomore Josh Jaycox in the 23rd and 25th minutes.
Jaycox scored the following goal in the 27th minute, unassisted.
Cavanah scored again in the 31st minute, completing his first collegiate hat trick.
Freshman Daniel Barone scored the final goal of the first half to give to the Blue Jays a 10-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the 61st minute, sophomore Diego Veintimilla connected with the goal off an assist by sophomore Peter Gerber. Veintimilla scored again in the 66th minute with the assist from freshman Mason VonderHaar.
Gerber scored in the 69th minute with the assist from sophomore Koy Garrett, and sophomore David Immanuel scored with the assist from Veintimilla.
Gerber put the final touch on the game with two minutes remaining to bring the score to 15-0.
The Blue Jays took 43 shots on goal and finished the game with 15 goals and 9 assists.
Sophomore Raul Belman Romero (6-6) was credited with the win.
The Blue Jays travel to Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, October 18, to take on Spalding University. First touch is at 2:00 EST.
