Dr. Therese Miller Receives Award for Service-Learning Efforts

Dr. Therese Miller, Professor of Health and Exercise Science, was awarded the LeadingAge Missouri Distinguished Service Award for 2015.  LeadingAge Missouri is an association dedicated to serving the needs of providers of healthcare, housing, and services for the elderly.  Dr. Miller was nominated by staff at the Presbyterian Manor in Fulton to recognize the excellent creative movement and dance classes she has provided for the residents there.

The award was presented at the LeadingAge annual conference on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.  Dr. Miller also received recognition as a Thomas Ehrlich Civically-Engaged Faculty Member, presented by the Heartland Campus Compact in 2014, and she recently received a Campus Compact grant to support service-learning on our campus during the 2015-16 academic year.  Known for her many service-learning courses and for her determination to make service a key component in our students’ learning at Westminster, Dr. Miller is to be commended for these three awards.
