Internship location?
I interned at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Job title and responsibilities?
My title was Summer Lab Science Student, Clinical Histology Lab Study. I had the role of a histology lab assistant, so I was in trained in two areas: specimen preparation and specimen processing.
What made you choose this particular internship?
I chose this internship specifically because of the prestigious reputation of the hospital. Mayo Clinic is very well known, and to have the opportunity to work with anyone from this hospital was something I could not turn down.
Major?
Biochemistry with a biological emphasis.
Minor?
Sports medicine and criminal justice.
Are you glad you did the internship?
I am so happy I took the internship! Not only did I have the opportunity to work at Mayo Clinic, but I was able to shadow two pathology assistants and talk to their chief medical examiner. The program really helped me grow more into my future career path.
What are your future plans?
My future plans are not set in stone yet, but I am currently studying for the MCAT and filling out pathology assistant applications.
