Lutz Awarded SLIAC Post Graduate Scholarship
Westminster’s senior Leigh Ann Lutz was awarded the 2013-14 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Female Post Graduate Scholarship.
The scholarships, selected by the Conference’s Faculty Athletics Representatives (FAR) based on the graduating student-athletes accomplishments in and out of the classroom, awards the recipients a financial stipend towards their first year of graduate study. The presentation will take place at the Conference’s third annual awards banquet on Tuesday, May 20, at Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo.
Lutz holds a GPA of 4.0 and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. She serves as a student ambassador and has earned Academic All-Conference honors in basketball. She is also a Dean’s List student.
Lutz was a four year member of the Westminster women’s basketball team. She has helped her team to two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, two conference tournament championships and three conference championships. She holds the Westminster career records for points scored and three-point field goals and the season three-point field goal record.
Lutz is also highly involved in the community, participating in “Clean the Forest”, Special Olympics, youth basketball coaching, and Reading Buddies group. She is also a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Philanthropy and serves as a CARDV local volunteer.
Lutz is the fifth Westminster student-athlete to receive this award.
Lutz graduates this spring with a degree in Biology and Exercise Science. Following graduation, she will attend Alderson-Broaddus University where she will pursue her Masters in Medical Science.
