Lutz Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Westminster senior Leigh Ann Lutz was announced as one of 29 winter sport women student-athletes to be awarded the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The NCAA awards 87 women student-athletes annually who excel academically and athletically.

The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship was created over 50 years ago to promote and encourage postgraduate  education. The scholarship evaluates athletic and academic achievements, as well as campus involvement, community service, volunteer activities and demonstrated leadership.

Lutz graduated with a GPA of 4.0 and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. She serves as a student ambassador and has earned Academic All-Conference honors in basketball. She is also a Dean’s List student.

Lutz was a four year member of the Westminster women’s basketball team. She has helped her team to two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, two conference tournament championships and three conference championships. She holds the Westminster career records for points scored and three-point field goals and the season three-point field goal record.

Lutz is also highly involved in the community, participating in “Clean the Forest”, Special Olympics, youth basketball coaching, and Reading Buddies group. She is also a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Philanthropy and serves as a CARDV local volunteer.

Lutz graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in exercise science and biology. Immediately following graduation, she will be attending Alderson-Broaddus University where she will pursue her Masters in Medical Science.
