Little Blue Jays Club Set to Launch at Westminster College’s Homecoming Game

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fulton, Mo. ‒ Sept. 12, 2024: Westminster College cordially invites all local Little Blue Jays in Grades PreK-5 and their families to flock to the homecoming football game at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 for the launch of an exciting new athletics program designed specifically for young athletes.

Little Blue Jays Club coordinator Rosie Kent says the organization will officially kick off just before the game at the entry gate of the Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium, where the Westminster Blue Jays will face off against the William Woods University Owls.

Kent, who played college volleyball for three years, brings her passion for sports and youth development to Westminster after participating in a similar program as a student.

“I wanted to start this program at Westminster because I thought it was a great opportunity for young people, and this is such a fun age for kids to start thinking about and getting involved in sports,” says Kent, who graduated with a degree in sports management from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. “They will be able to try almost every sport we offer and learn from our student-athletes.”

The Little Blue Jays Club promises a wide range of benefits for members, including:

  • A Little Blue Jays t-shirt
  • Stickers
  • Invitations to special clinics for a variety of Blue Jays sports
  • Free family admission to all Blue Jays home games
  • Other fun opportunities, such as pen pals, off-season clinics and invitations to exclusive events

To join, families are asked to fill out a short form and submit a $35 registration fee via cash or check at the stadium gate. Once registered, Little Blue Jays and family members will enjoy access to a variety of activities through the College’s NCAA Division III athletics programs, which compete in both the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

Within the Athletics Department, Kent also serves as the Athletics Operations Coordinator and Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics. She and her husband, Jake Kent, Associate Director of Sports Medicine, moved to Westminster from Iowa in January 2024, along with their dogs, Samson, Bronco and Bella.

“I can’t wait to see the Little Blue Jays grow, thrive and become a part of the Westminster family,” Kent adds. “This season is going to be something truly special.”
