Westminster Community Celebrates International Women’s Day

Westminster College celebrated International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 8 with a special gathering at the Columns to recognize the women who help contribute to the daily functioning, unique culture, and success of the College. The gathering was for all Westminster women, including staff, faculty, students, administrators and coaches, to stand in solidarity with women on our campus and throughout the world and share their stories of being a woman and community member. Asked to wear red to show their support, participants also created sidewalk art to celebrate how woman have impacted Westminster College.

The event was powerful and inspiring and allowed us to really celebrate Westminster women,” said Dr. Cinnamon Brown, Associate Professor of History and co-advisor of the Remley R.E.S.T. Center. “This was a global day of celebration recognizing the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.  It also emphasized the challenges faced by women on a global level and marks a call to action for gender parity.”
