Westminster Represented at Washington, DC Gathering for President’s Interfaith Challenge

Kat Barden, Head of Public Services and Instructor at Westminster College, represented Westminster in a panel at the third annual President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge Gathering on September 23-24, 2013 in Washington, DC.

The Interfaith Challenge began in March 2011, when President Obama extended an invitation to college presidents across the country to bring together diverse religious groups on campus for a year of interfaith cooperation and community service programming. The program, now in its third year, challenges students and administrators to serve together on projects that strengthen their communities and unite people of diverse religious backgrounds.

Barden spoke on the College’s disaster preparedness programming and presented information about Westminster’s Interfaith challenge programs which included a peace workshop, a UNHCR refugee simulation, and a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.  Karim AlZeer AlHusaini and Mulayhafid Sidahmed, student representatives from Westminster, participated in the conference as well and spoke of their service and personal experiences.
