Prominent USC Professor Visits Westminster as Global Scholar-in-Residence
Dr Patrick James, the Dornsife Dean’s Professor of International Relations and Director of the Center for International Studies at the University of Southern California, was the 2013-14 Churchill Institute for Global Engagement (CIGE) Global Scholar-in-Residence (GSIR) at Westminster College on November 4-6.
Dr James, a native of London, Ontario, Canada, who has published 13 books and hundreds of scholarly articles on international conflict and peace, talked on such topics as democracy, territory, and conflict, as well as Canadian foreign policy, international relations theory, and ethno-religious politics.
He spoke with several Westminster students, classes, and met with faculty to discuss scholarship and teaching. Dr James helped faculty leaders, staff and administrative leaders, and students better conceptualize Westminster’s role as a global academic institution.
Dr James is the second CIGE Global Scholar-in-Residence (GSIR). Historian Dr Roger Richardson of Winchester University in England served as the 2012-13 GSIR.
