Generous Support from Westminster Students on Successful Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday 2017

On Tuesday, November 28, organizations around the nation hosted fundraising drives for Giving Tuesday. At Westminster, students were encouraged to donate $5 to the Westminster Fund, which provides vital support to all areas of campus life; the general scholarship fund, academic initiatives, leadership programs and student activities, among other needs.

Each member of Phi Delta Theta contributed, for a total of $255

“I’m proud to say we raised $1262 and had 145 participants,” reports Sarah Munns, Director of Alumni Relations.

Both the amount raised and the student participation rate exceed the results of Giving Tuesday 2016. Members of the Alumni Council have graciously made the commitment to match each contribution that was made, bringing the total to $2,524. Contributions made by other alumni and friends of the College on Giving Tuesday brought the overall total to $6,361, with 175 individual donors.

Each member of Delta Tau Delta also contributed, for a total of $270

“I’d like to say thank you to our Student Ambassador leaders for believing in this important initiative and to our Alumni Council members for supporting student giving,” says Munns.
