Dr. James Spriggs, ’89, to Speak at Undergraduate Scholars Forum

Dr. James Spriggs, Westminster College Class of 1989, will be the keynote speaker at the 7th annual Undergraduate Scholars Forum on April 10.

Dr. Spriggs graduated from Westminster College in 1989 with a major in Political Science. He is currently the Sidney W. Souers Professor of Government and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Washington University in St. Louis, where he has taught since 2006. Before coming to Washington University, Dr. Spriggs was Professor of Political Science at the University of California-Davis.

Dr. Spriggs specializes in law and politics. His articles have appeared in over a dozen journals, including the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Politics, and the Georgetown Law Journal. He has also published two books and is the recipient of two National Science Foundation Grants.

Among his many awards are the Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award (2009),and the C. Herman Pritchett Award for the best book published on law and courts, presented by the Law and Courts Section of the American Political Science Association (2001). He will be honored this year during Westminster’s Alumni Weekend with an Alumni Achievement Award.
