David Veitch To Receive Alumni Loyalty Award

David Veitch from Tulsa, OK, Class of 1973 and a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, will receive the Lifetime Alumni Achievement Award given at a special Alumni Honors Convocation Ceremony to be held at 10:30 a.m., April 23, during Alumni Weekend in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury on the Westminster College campus in Fulton, MO.

Veitch is a Senior Financial Advisor for Morgan Stanley.

Established in 2009 and renamed in 2012, the Jack Marshall Alumni Loyalty Award is bestowed upon alumni who demonstrate continued interest in Westminster College through contributions of time, talent, influence and/or funds, and who have demonstrated exceptional loyalty, commitment and dedication to the College.  The Jack Marshall Alumni Loyalty Award is approved by the Alumni council and given to up to 1 alumnus/a each year at Alumni Weekend.  The Jack Marshall Alumni Loyalty Ward requires a motion and a vote from the Board of Trustees for approval.

“All the stories of a small school with small classes in a small town only six hours from home turned out to be true,” says Veitch.  “My experiences both on and off the campus prepared me well  for my financial career that now spans over four decades.  I am thankful to have made close friends with the college faculty and also my numerous friends in the Fulton business community.”

Veitch has a long history of loyalty to Westminster College.  He is a past member of Alumni Council, has consistently hosted alumni events in Tulsa, hosted the Blue Jay Road Crew, and opened his home to many Westminster administrators and alumni.

In 2010 he was asked to join the Westminster College Board of Trustees and never misses a meeting with attendance at 100%.  Currently he serves on three committees: Vice Chair of Investment and is a member of the Financial and Academic committees.

He also was instrumental in negotiation of a ‘working agreement’ between Westminster and Phi Delta Theta  to raise a record amount of money to assist in the complete renovation of the Phi Delt fraternity house.    He continually encourages Tulsa area students to consider Westminster as their college choice, particularly at Riverfield Country Day School where has served on the board for the past 24 years.

His father and his father’s twin brother and Veitch’s brother and son all graduated from Westminster and wife Ginger is equally committed to Westminster.

I am grateful to my parents for financially allowing me to carry forward our Veitch legacy at Westminster,” says Veitch.  “Our family tree now includes graduates in 1949, 1973, 1986 and 2005 and represents four different fraternities.”
