Coach Bordelon Named NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year, McDonough Named to Second Team
Westminster’s Head Men’s Soccer Coach Andrew Bordelon and senior midfielder Michael McDonough were recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Coach Bordelon was named the NSCAA Division III Senior College Central Region Coach of the Year for the 2013 season and McDonough was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men’s All-Central Region Second Team.
Coach Bordelon led the Blue Jays to the school’s first-ever Sweet 16 appearance. The team defeated Carelton College and Gustavus Adolphus College before falling in the Sectionals round to nationally ranked Loras College. The Blue Jays finished the season with a 13-9-1 record.
McDonough is the first Blue Jay to be named to the NSCAA NCAA Division III Men’s All-Central Region Second Team. McDonough appeared in every game and posted 9 points throughout the 2013 season with 3 goals and 3 assists. His shot on goal percentage was .528. McDonough was named to the SLIAC All-Conference Second Team.
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) is the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization and serves members at every level of the game.
