Westminster Celebrates Veterans

In honor of Veterans’ Day on November 11, Westminster will celebrate not only its student veterans and servicemen and women, but those who have served from across the country. As a Yellow Ribbon institution, Westminster is dedicated to ensuring that student veterans benefit from the experience of attending a military friendly school through the financial benefits of the Yellow Ribbon program.

Westminster College President Dr. Barney Forsythe  recognize and celebrated our student veterans at a private lunch on campus on Friday, Nov. 8. Dr. Forsythe is a former U.S. Army Brigadier General. During his tenure at Westminster, he has brought his military experience and training to combine with his higher education focus to develop Westminster’s Concept for Student Development, centering on leadership and dynamic developmental experiences for every Westminster student.

Westminster was recently named a 2014 Military Friendly School due to its work to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses.

The National Churchill Museum on Westminster’s campus will also celebrate veterans with their fifth annual Honor Tree. The public is invited to post  pictures of loved ones that are active U.S. military or veterans on the tree, which will be on display Nov. 1 through January 2.
