Westminster Junior to Serve as Student Chair of the MNEA – Aspiring Educators Division

Alison Rodgers, ’22 ΑΓΔ, begins Spring Semester 2021 this week with a long list of responsibilities ― both academic and professional. The Secondary Education and History major from Wellsville, MO, recently was selected as student chair of the Aspiring Educators division of Missouri’s National Education Association (MNEA).

As chair, Rodgers will represent MNEA at colleges throughout the state. She explains, “My main job is to give students in their respected teacher educator programs information about MNEA and how it helps take care of them in their future profession.”

The Westminster junior also will attend MNEA board meetings and represent the organization at conferences and state legislative assemblies, where she will vote on educational issues and policies.

These newfound leadership responsibilities do not phase Rodgers, who consistently remains active at Westminster by serving as a freshman mentor, vice president of recruitment for Panhellenic Council, vice president and legislative chair of Westminster’s Education Association, and treasurer of Kappa Delta Pi. She also worked with the Voters’ Drive Committee last semester.

Each leadership position highlights Rodgers’ commitment to the College, which she absolutely loves.

“I love the community here. On campus, and even off campus last spring because of the pandemic, the student body and staff come together in such amazing ways,” Rodgers reflects. “It’s truly like being a part of a huge family, and I will forever be grateful for that.”
