Westminster Celebrates a Successful Family Weekend 2019

One of the benefits of a small college like Westminster is its family-like atmosphere, which made Family Weekend 2019 a success. More than 35 families arrived on campus for activities that took place from Friday, Sept. 27, to Sunday, Sept. 29.

The weekend opened in Mueller Student Center with a TGIF, or Thank Goodness It’s Family, and included a caramel apple bar, a photo booth and paint-and-sip activities.

Vice President and Dean of Student Life Dr. Kasi Lacey says fun activities with students and families allow her to do what she enjoys most.

“It was wonderful being able to reconnect with students and have the pleasure of meeting with their families,” Lacey says.

Included in the weekend was a “Conversation with President Lamkin” at 10 a.m. in the Johnson College Inn, or JCI, where Fletch discussed the vision for the future at Westminster.

A Parents’ Association meeting in the JCI immediately followed Fletch’s presentation.

Next, families were treated at noon to a popcorn bar at Blue Jays Stadium during the homecoming football game versus the College of St. Scholastica from Duluth, MN. See more about that game here.

The busy weekend concluded on Sunday with a family and friends worship service at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury, followed by a brunch at Backer Dining Hall in Mueller Student Center.

Lacey says the weekend ended without a hitch.

“I always remind families that it is my honor to be a part of their students’ lives and journey while at Westminster,” she says.
