Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, is hosting the traveling exhibit “Ulysses S. Grant Bicentennial” through March 31, 2023, in the Hazel Wing of Reeves Library.

The exhibit, which opened on March 13, is free and open to the public.

Grant was the 18th president of the United States, serving from 1869 to 1877. Grant also served as a Union commanding general in the American Civil War.

Dr. Nichol Allen, Associate Director for Programming at America’s National Churchill Museum, worked with Greg Wolk of the Missouri Humanities Council to bring the exhibit to Westminster.

“I am collaborating with librarian Victoria Knight and Museum Studies student Faith Beckmann to install and house the exhibit, as well as create a connection between Westminster and the Civil War,” Allen says.

The exhibit is a celebration of the 200th anniversary of Grant’s birth. The exhibit explores Grant’s military career in Missouri and his other personal connections to the Show-Me State.

The exhibit was previously located at the Thomas Sappington House in the St. Louis suburb of Crestwood, Missouri.
