Suicide Prevention Training Offered to Westminster Community

The Westminster Wellness Center is sponsoring QPR training at noon on Tuesday, February 20, in the Hermann Lounge for faculty, staff, and students interested in becoming trained in suicide prevention.

Completion of the training will result in certification, and while it is helpful to anyone interested in saving lives, the training would especially benefit those who serve or are interested in serving as student leaders and anyone involved in risk management.

QPR stands for question, persuade, and refer, which are the three simple steps necessary to help save a life from suicide. The training is provided by the QPR Institute.

Every year people who have received QPR training recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and save the lives of friends, colleagues, siblings, and neighbors.

Those wishing to attend the training should RSVP to Margie Lechner at Margie.Lechner@westminster-mo.edu. Those who register by February 16 can sign up for a free lunch.
