Start Spreading the News: BBIC Trip to New York is in Less Than Two Weeks

Blue Blazers Investment Committee (BBIC) members are counting down the days to their much-anticipated Feb. 19 trip to New York. Each week until the trip, Westminster Today is featuring individuals who are involved with Blue Blazers in some capacity. This week, “Start Spreading the News: Countdown to New York” highlights Riley Zack, ‘19 ΦΔΘ, and John S. Logan, ’06 ΚΑ.

For me, Blue Blazers taught me so much about investing, leadership and organization. The trip to New York solidified that I wanted to be in the investing field, and the organization gave me a head start to my career. The trip itself was my favorite experience at Westminster and really connected me to the trip attendees and the people we networked with.

Participating in Blue Blazers was a unique and amazing experience, providing us as students with the opportunity to research and invest real money. The trip to New York was truly awesome. During our visit to CNBC, I had the opportunity to sit next to anchor Tyler Mathisen and read from the teleprompter, introducing the next segment: ”What makes your dough rise? Dominoes or Papa John’s?” As a result of the New York trip, I was offered a summer internship working in the unleaded gas pit at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). I’m now a project manager of mergers and acquisitions, supporting private equity and corporate transactions.
