Dinosaur Discoverers to Conduct Virtual Panel Discussion and Q-&-A Session

You are cordially invited to join Westminster College’s undergraduate research team and Dr. David Schmidt for a virtual informative presentation on Shady the Dinosaur from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, via the College’s livestream link. Questions can be submitted simultaneously through all Westminster social media platforms.

Join Colette Faiella, ’21, Sophia Hessenkemper, ’23, Tim Burridge, ’21, and Dr. David Schmidt, Associate Professor of Geology and Environmental Science, in a student-led presentation on the 7-foot-long, 3,000 pound triceratops skull the Westminster group recovered this summer in the Badlands of South Dakota.

Dr. David Schmidt has conducted an annual dig for seven summers with undergraduate researchers at the Grand River National Grassland near Shadehill, SD. This summer’s fossil excavation was the most exciting to date. In addition to the presentation on Shady, the 2020 research team will discuss a variety of other fossils found this summer.

Be sure to access our livesteam link and/or Westminster’s social media platforms to learn more about the story that captured the imaginations of many throughout the country, including the CBS Evening News, the Smithsonian Magazine, and USA Today!
