Summer Travel: Westmo Religion Professor Dr. Cliff Cain’s Service in Bali

How is Dr. Cliff Cain, the Harrod-C.S. Lewis Professor of Religious Studies at Westminster, spending summer 2017? Volunteering on the beautiful island of Bali!

Dr. Cain is serving as volunteer Senior Pastor of the English-speaking, Bukit Doa International Church on the island of Bali in Indonesia. Below, Dr. Cain shares photos from his summer service adventure. Above, he poses with his driver, Okjen, after his installation service.

“The church in which I am serving (an English-speaking congregation) is in the midst of an 85% majority Hindu population, with 12% Muslim, on the island,” says Dr. Cain. “Indonesia as a whole is overwhelmingly Muslim, but Bali is the exception. It is gorgeous here — a bit hot and a lot humid, but beautiful. And the people are exceptionally warm, hospitable, and gracious.  I’m learning a lot and having a blast.”
