Blue Jays Women’s Basketball was once again named an Academic Top 25 Team by the Women’s College Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The Blue Jays were ranked 20th in the 2023-2024 Division III honor roll, with a 3.701 team grade point average.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes women’s college basketball teams across the nation in Division I, II and III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Recognized teams carry the highest combined GPAs of all student-athletes for the entire season.

“The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women’s basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom,” said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew in a recent press release. “The 112 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success, and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!”

Coach Talisha Washington of Blue Jays women’s basketball explained that recognition in the national women’s basketball landscape is a significant achievement for her team. She added, “This is the eighth time in our program’s history that we’ve received this honor, and we are beyond excited to continue to make our mark.”

The WBCA has compiled honor rolls for 29 seasons. The Blue Jays were ranked first in 2013-2014 and second in both 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. They were also ranked in 2009-2010, 2011-2012, 2012-2013 and 2014-2015.

Washington reflected, “Our staff is incredibly proud of the team’s hard work, dedication and commitment to being impactful student-athletes in our community.”
