Blue Jays Blast Past Blackburn, 70-51

The Westminster men’s basketball team blast past Blackburn College, 70-51, Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays are now 5-3 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) play and 8-7 overall.

The Blue Jays grabbed a 21-7 lead just seven minutes into the game, and increased the lead to 22 points with three minutes remaining in the half. The Blue Jays headed into halftime with a 41-22 lead.

A three-pointer by junior Brandon Moore sparked a 12-0 run, ending with a 60-32 lead. The Blue Jays held the lead and ended the game with the 70-51 win.

Junior Verdis Lee Jr. led the Blue Jays with 14 points after going 4-for-6 from the three point line. Senior Jordan Jones added 12 points and four assists to the win. Senior Joe James pulled down six rebounds and grabbed three steals for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays host Spalding University on Monday, January 20, at 5:00 p.m.
