FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fulton, Mo. – April 9, 2025: Westminster College is pleased to announce that best-selling author and political commentator Rob Henderson will deliver the Fourth Annual Brauer Lecture at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the Church of St. Mary, the Virgin, Aldermanbury ― part of America’s National Churchill Museum.

The public is cordially invited to attend the lecture.

Henderson currently serves as a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute. He is the author of Troubled: A Memoir of Foster Care, Family and Social Class and is credited for coining the term “luxury belief.”

Henderson’s views on the concept were influenced by his experience growing up in foster homes throughout Los Angeles and the rural town of Red Bluff, California.

After his turbulent childhood, Henderson enlisted at the age of 17 in the U.S. Air Force. He then attended Yale University on the GI Bill, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Henderson went on to receive the Gates Cambridge Scholarship to study at the University of Cambridge, where he obtained a PhD in psychology in 2022.

In addition to his responsibilities with the Manhattan Institute, Henderson is a contributing editor for City Journal and has been published in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Boston Globe, as well as other outlets. His Substack newsletter is sent each week to more than 60,000 subscribers.

“Rob Henderson’s lecture promises to engage both our students and the local community,” said Dr. Derek Glasgow, Coordinator of the Brauer Lecture and Assistant Professor of Political Science. “We’re pleased he will join us on campus for this lecture series, which is designed to be a springboard for honest conversations on class in a highly stratified society.”

ABOUT THE BRAUER LECTURE: Sponsored in conjunction with the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, the Brauer Lecture Series seeks to highlight the leadership characteristics of its speakers. Featured lecturers are encouraged to discuss how their values guide their daily lives while also highlighting the importance of free-market economics.

This lecture series is designed to bring to campus world-renowned speakers who will address the contributions of free enterprise to economic growth, public policy, and world affairs.

The Brauer Lecture Series is made possible by a generous gift from Stephen F. ’67 and Camilla T. Brauer of St. Louis.
