Women’s Cross Country Takes 1st At IC Invitational

The Westminster women’s cross country team won the IC Invitational on Saturday, October 11. The Westminster Blue Jays tallied 57 points, placing first out of seven teams in the 6K race by one point.

Freshman Shannon McCaul crossed first for the Blue Jays, bringing home a fifth place finish with her 25:00.12 race time. Junior Claire Gibby finished shortly after, placing eighth in a time of 25:21.86.

Freshman Madison Zack and junior Brier Skogsberg placed 13th (26:09.90) and 14th (26:19.34), respectively. Following Skogsberg, freshman Taylor Howard crossed in 26:57.79 (17th).

Rounding out the Blue Jays was seniors Tiara Pettijohn in 25th place (28:07.15) and Danielle Smulczenski (31:53.03).

The Blue Jays compete in their final invitational at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Saturday, October 25 before their Conference meet and Regionals.
