Westminster Men’s Soccer Drops Final Non-Conference Game To Elmhurst

The Westminster men’s soccer team finalized their non-conference play Wednesday afternoon with a 0-2 loss to Elmhurst College. The loss moves the Blue Jay’s overall record to 3-7-1.

Elmhurst scored their first goal in the 8th minute with a shot that bounced off both poles before going in and their second goal in the 81st minute.  The teams kept pace with each other, but the Blue Jays were unable to connect with the goal.

“The 2-0 score might not be a fair outcome for the game. We had a lot of possession, but we needed to get better chances to score. We also needed to finish the chances we had,” said Head Coach Andrew Bordelon.

The Blue Jays took 14 shots during the 90 minutes of play and seven shots were on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Raul Belman Romero finished the game with five saves after allowing the two goals.

“We are starting to play much better. We are excited to get back in conference play with MacMurray on Saturday,” commented Coach Bordelon.

The Blue Jays host MacMurray College on Saturday, October 12, at 5:00 p.m. The Blue Jay soccer teams will host a free soccer clinic during the day on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m.
