Volleyball Sweeps Blackburn 3-0

The Westminster volleyball team swept the Blackburn College Beavers in three sets Friday night. The Blue Jays improve their record to 8-6 overall and to 5-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC).

The Blue Jays took the 13-6 lead against Blackburn before defeating them 25-11 in set one. The Blue Jays kept up the momentum and swept the Beavers 25-13 in set two. They quickly took set three, 25-11, to win the match 3-0.

The Blue Jays finished with a .329 hitting percentage for the night. Freshman Riley Lawrence led the Blue Jays will 11 kills. Sophomore Lexi Collier finished the night with a .900 hitting and kill percentage (9 kills/10 attempts). Freshman Kayla Reeg had 38 assists and sophomore Caroline Will had 11 digs. Freshman Amanda Kiso had three block assists and nine kills.

The Blue Jays head to Fayette, Missouri on Wednesday, October 9, to play Central Methodist at 7:00 p.m.
