Men’s Tennis Defeats Webster, 5-4

The Westminster men’s tennis team grabbed their second straight victory with a 5-4 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) win over Webster University Thursday evening. The Westminster Blue Jays are now 2-1 in SLIAC play and 2-8 overall.

The Blue Jays held the 2-1 lead heading into singles play after junior Nathan Connell and junior Justin Wollmershauser prevailed in the two’s spot, 9-7, and sophomore Kyle Collins and freshman Scott Strough won in the third spot, 8-2.

Senior Alec Belden won the number two singles, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. Collin won in the number four singles, 6-4 and 6-2, and Strough rounded out the win in the sixth singles with two 6-3 victories.

The Blue Jays travel to St. Louis, Missouri Saturday, April 12, to play in two SLIAC matches. They will face Fontbonne University at 9:00 a.m. and Eureka College at 12:00 p.m.
