Lady Blue Jays Go 1-1 At Bancorp South Holiday Classic

The Westminster Lady Blue Jays went 1-1 at the Bancorp South Holiday Classic on December 29-30. They are now 3-6 overall.

The Blue Jays fell 48-83 to Rhodes on Sunday, December 29, who is currently 9-0. They were held to just 22 points in the first half and 26 points in the second.

The Blue Jays shot 88 percent from the foul line, going 22-25. Sophomore Jen Herndon led the Blue Jays with 10 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Andrea Zalis chipped in 9 points and four rebounds to the loss.

On Monday, December 30, the Blue Jays defeated Birmingham-Southern 82-76.

The Blue Jays shot 52.5 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from beyond the arc. Senior Leigh Ann Lutz, sophomore Kasey Gatson and sophomore Mackenzie Haddox scored 20, 17 and 16 points, respectively. Zalis grabbed 7 rebounds and finished the game with 4 blocks.

The Blue Jays will head home to host MacMurray College in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) match-up on January 7, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.
