Indoor Track Season Comes To A Close at Missouri Collegiate Challenge

Columbia, Mo. – Two records were broken as the Westminster indoor track and field season came to a close at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge on Friday, February 21.

Junior Nyima Njie broke the 200-meter dash record with a 28.15 time. She shaved .41 her previously held record she set at Mizzou. Junior Tanisha Terrell finished shortly behind her with a time of 29.26. Njie and Terrell both competed in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 8.39 and 8.63, respectively. 

The women’s 4×400-meter relay team, comprised of freshman Rachel Bade, senior Sarah Ogar, Terrell and Njie, set the new record for the 4×400-meter relay, finishing in 6th with a time of 4:26.16.

Junior Daniel Lindaman and senior Jacob Burch competed in the 5000-meter run. Lindaman placed 6th in the race with a 16:35.48 time, followed by Burch in 8th (18:27.34).

Sophomore Jesse Edwards the 3000-meter run in 9:27.47, placing 8th. 

Brier Skogsberg placed 5th in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:20.68. Senior Matt Borst and freshman Ryan Dyer ran the 1,000-meter run for the men’s side. Borst placed 8th, finishing in 2:47.11. Dyer finished shortly after, placing 11th with a time of 3:10.95.

Dyer also completed the 600-meter run, placing 5th with a final time of 1:29.73.

Borst competed in the 1-mile run, finishing in 4:41.93. On the women’s side, Skogsberg placed 8th in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:34.50.

Ogar competed in the 600-meter run, placing 4th with a 1:49.39 time, and she placed 11th in the 800-meter run with a final time of 2:39.44.  She finished the 400-meter dash in 1:04.84.

Freshman Raul Belman Romero finished the 400-meter dash in 1:00.34, placing 9th.

Sophomore Bret Robertson and Kendy Lamour finished the 200-meter dash one right after the other with times of 25.59 (14th) and 26.16 (15th), respectively. Lamour, Robertson and junior Mike Lutz finished the 60-meter dash close together. Lamour crossed with a 7.74 time, followed by Robertson with a time of 7.82 and crossing last was Lutz with a 7.84 time.

For the second meet in a row, Lutz participated in the shot put. He finished in 18th after throwing 10.43 meters.

 

The Blue Jays will start their outdoor season on Saturday, March 22. They will start their season at the Culver-Stockton Open in Canton, Missouri.
