Doran and Reeg Named SLIAC Players of the Week

Westminster’s men’s soccer player Daryl Doran and volleyball player Kayla Reeg were named to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Players of the Week list on October 6.

Doran, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., is this week’s Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after helping lead Westminster to a 1-0 shutout win over Greenville College. Doran, a defender, anchored the Blue Jays defense that limited Greenville to just five shots in the game, two below their season average. Doran played all 90 minutes of the game as the Blue Jays defense recorded their second consecutive shutout and third shutout of the season.

Reeg, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., helped the Blue Jays go undefeated on the week, sweeping three of four conference matches. Reeg helped run an efficient attack, hitting .214 as a team on the week. Reeg averaged 10.85 assists per set, balancing the attack with four attackers recording over 30 kills on the week. Reeg tallied a high of 39 assists in a win over Spalding and registered 30 or more assists in three of four outings.

The men’s soccer team looks to extend their conference record to 3-0 on Saturday as they host Eureka College. First touch is at 7:00 p.m. at the Blue Jay soccer field.

The volleyball team host Blackburn College on October 11 at 9:30 a.m.
