Blue Jay Spirit Club Seeks New Members and Membership Renewals

More than 50 percent of Westminster students enroll in the College to play varsity sports. Because intercollegiate athletics is such a vital part of campus life, Westminster founded the Blue Jay Spirit Club in Winter 2019 to raise funds in specifically for athletes.

The Club currently is seeking new members and asking previous members to renew their membership for the 2020 fiscal year.

“Our goal is to grow the club and, in turn, support more Blue Jay athletes,” explains Blue Jay Spirt Club President Ken Theroff ’88 ΒΘΠ. Theroff is a Blue Jays Baseball and Basketball Hall-of-Famer and CEO of Jefferson Bank in Jefferson City, MO.

Last year, the Blue Jay Spirit Club raised more than $200,000, which made up 15 percent of the total athletics budget. Refer to the chart below to see examples of where donations are applied.

A gift of any size automatically qualifies you as a member of the Blue Jay Spirit Club.

“The intercollegiate experience is a fine tradition at Westminster,” Theroff says. “With your contribution, it is one that can be maintained for years to come.”
