Alumnus Gary Forrest Receives Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award

Marquis Who’s Who awarded Gary Forrest, EdD, PhD, ’65 ΔΤΔ, of Colorado Springs, CO, an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in April.

A news release from the well-recognized biographical profiling company states that Forrest received the recognition for his wide variety of credentials and many years of professional experience in his field.

Forrest is the executive director and founder of Psychotherapy Associates, PC, in Colorado Springs. The nationally recognized addictions consultant is well-known by Westminster’s Department of Psychology for his consistent support of students from the College. Since 1974, Forrest’s counseling service has sponsored Westminster students, administrators, faculty and staff at its annual Psychotherapy Associates Winter Symposium.

Westminster Today recently caught up with Forrest, who remarked that the College helped him develop a lifelong career path, the gift of giving back to others and the cultivation of countless friendships.

“I sincerely thank Westminster College for my preparation for life and my love of learning,” Forrest says. “I always look forward to returning to campus for Alumni Weekend and seeing friends, the fraternity house and visiting with Psychology Department faculty. Going back to Westminster continues to be one of my sentimental journeys.”

While at the College, Forrest earned a degree in psychology. He then received a master’s degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1967 and a doctorate in education, counseling and psychology from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, in 1970. Forrest completed an extended addictions training program at the University of Oklahoma in Norman during his service as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, where he served as clinical director of the Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center at Fort Gordon, GA. Forrest later earned his Ph.D. from Columbia Pacific University in San Rafael, CA, in 1984.
