C.W. Gusewelle, Class of 1955, made a connection with his freshmen English professor that shaped his career as a writer and his entire life. He remembers this fondly in a Kansas City Star article “The mind needs a sterling mentor” and offers this advice:
As early as possible in your college years, establish a connection with a professor in your field of study — one whose wisdom you respect and who understands your passion for the career you intend to pursue.”
