Alumni Return to Campus for a Joyful Alumni Weekend

Alumni Weekend 2018 at Westminster was a huge success with more than six hundred alumni and guests enjoying the weekend of activities.

The Old Guard luncheon, held in the Hermann Lounge April 20, drew 85 alumni and guests who received a brief summary of all the exciting news being made at Westminster by President Lamkin and remarks from Dr. Mark Boulton, Harry S. Truman Fellow and Associate Professor of History, who spoke about his upcoming May trip for students and alumni to Vietnam.

“None of our improvements and successes would be possible without invested alumni like you, so thank you a million times over, on behalf of all of us in the Westminster community,” President Lamkin told the group. “We greatly appreciate your strong commitment to the Blue Jay Nation over the years, and we continue to appeal to you to give us your time, talent, and treasure so we can write the next chapter to Westminster’s successful history together. ”

That evening the Golden Anniversary Class of 1968 dined at the Fulton Country Club and received honorary medallions. Thirty members of the class were in attendance as President Lamkin reminded them of some of the memories of their senior year, such as commencement speaker Hugh Downs from the Today Show and appearances on campus by Art Linkletter, Dick Gregory, and The Turtles.

The 25-year anniversary class, the Class of 1993, also had a reunion dinner that evening in the private dining room of the Copper Mine Restaurant in Fulton. Vice President and Chief Communications Officer Lana Poole gave brief remarks to the group which included 19 class members.

“To have an opportunity like this—to catch up on what’s been happening with your families, your jobs, and other details of your personal life as well as talking over some of the best memories of your life at Westminster is a special occasion,” Poole said.

In a new event added for Alumni Weekend 2018, the Class of 2008 held a 10th Reunion reception in the Atrium of the Coulter Science Center. Twenty-seven members of the class were in attendance.
