Adults Offered New Degree Program to “Finish Up”

Adults with some college credit who would like to complete their degree can now do so and gain college credit for their work experience with the new “Finish Up” program at Westminster College.

“Our new Bachelor of Arts in Leadership degree is uniquely designed for adults who want to complete their undergraduate degree while gaining professional and personal skills they can use every day,” says Westminster President Benjamin Ola. Akande.  “We have designed the program specifically with working people in mind.  The class schedules are flexible and students can complete their degree faster.”

Students in the program can gain credits for work experience, assessed and approved through the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), as well as transfer credit from their prior college experience.

The flexible class schedule allows those in the program to take classes on campus during evenings and on weekends with some classes offered online.

“The beauty of receiving our new degree in leadership is that it compliments any career,” says President Akande.  “Those who complete the course work will be able to advance to the next level and become leaders in their field.”

Those wishing to enroll in the “Finish Up” program will begin this summer with the Westminster Seminar, a three-hour introduction to the program.  This course meets on campus two evenings each week, June 6-June 24, and involves “blended” learning, which is a combination of in-class and online instruction.

Other seven week classes earning three credits each will be offered throughout the year.

Those interested in setting up a meeting with a personal advisor to see what options are available and how a completion plan might work should call Kelle Silvey at 573-592-5148 or send an email to [email protected].

Those with college credit from other institutions should have official transcripts sent to the Westminster Admissions Office.

Prospective students should also talk with Westminster financial planning advisors about corporate tuition reimbursement, the GI Bill and the Yellow Ribbon program funding for military personnel and other financial assistance options.
