Meet Recruitment Director Jesse Taylor and Learn What He Tells Transfer Students

Jesse Taylor joined the Westminster College Admissions Team in April from Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, CO. Keep reading to learn what he thinks of working in higher education, how Westminster is becoming his new home, and what he does when he isn’t meeting with prospective students.

Where are you from originally?

I am originally from Kentucky, although I claim both Kentucky and Colorado now, too.

Where did you go to college, and what was your major?

I attended Northern Kentucky University and received a BA in Organizational Leadership in 2008. In 2018, I received my MA in Higher Education Administration & Leadership from Adams State University.

What is your Admissions territory?

I assist transfer and re-admit students.

Why did you go into college admissions work?

Higher education changed my life by giving me confidence to overcome adversity and providing mentors to help support my professional growth. After my experience, I wanted to be part of this work to share that with others.

What do you think of living in Fulton?

I love Fulton and have enjoyed it thus far. There is a movie store! I frequent the Splash Pad with my two kids, and my wife and I like to walk the Stinson Creek Trail.

Why do students typically transfer to Westminster from other colleges and universities?

I think a big reason students transfer is the personal touch we are able to provide with our education.

What’s the greatest piece of advice you give to transfer students who aren’t sure they want to make the transition and come to Westminster?

The Westminster faculty and staff are incredible! They are the key to the Westminster experience. These folks empower students at every level, from academics to leadership skills to community engagement to professional growth, resulting in not just an education but a comprehensive, well-rounded experience.

What’s your absolute favorite aspect of Westminster College?

My favorite aspect of Westminster College is the Learning Opportunities Center. This is program is unique to WC and does an amazing job of supporting our students.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I like to binge-watch a few TV shows and enjoy spending time in Fulton with my family.

Can you tell a little bit more about your family?

My wife, Jaclyn, and I have two children: Mason is 3, and Maverick is 1. We do not currently have any pets; however, that may change after our current lease is up.

What shows do you consider binge-worthy?

I like Game of Thrones, 30 Rock, and Dexter.

What is something about yourself nobody at Westminster knows yet?

I am the oldest of seven kids.
