Westminster alumna Andrea Sagely ’96 was honored on October 14, 2014 with ISEA’s (International STEM Education Association) STEM Champion Award. This prestigious award is given to outstanding middle and high school Andrea Sagely STEM Champion Award '14 Soloteachers who promote integrated science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.

Sagely distinguished herself by creating a highly integrated STEM program at Broken Arrow Public School  in Oklahoma where she teaches. She created a STEM Lab Program in which students from kindergarten to fifth grade are given one hour a week in the lab with age-appropriate challenges. Older students also participate in a STEM Lab Project week where they complete an engineering research project. These projects are often reflective of technologies students have seen in the world around them, like parachutes, rockets, and life jackets.

Andrea graduated from Westminster College in the class of 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
