Six Men’s Tennis Players Earn SLIAC All-Conference Honors

The Westminster men’s tennis team closed out the 2014 season with a second place finish at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament. The Westminster Blue Jays concluded conference play with a 3-1 record and a second place regular season finish. They were 4-10 overall.

Sophomore Kyle Collins was named to the SLIAC All-Conference First Team. Collins was also placed on the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. He went 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the #4 singles spot. He finished the conference season with a perfect 4-0 record.

Senior Alec Belden was named to the All-Conference Second Team in the #2 singles spot. He went  2-1 in conference play and 3-8 in the #2 spot.

Westminster’s three doubles teams swept the All-Conference Second Team doubles team honors.

The Belden and junior Tyler Wollmershauser team was named to the All-Conference Second Team in the #1 doubles spot. The team went 6-8 throughout the season and 3-1 in conference play.

The #2 doubles team, junior Justin Wollmershauser and Nathan Connell, was named to the All-Conference Second Team. They went 2-4 in the #2 doubles spot and 1-1 in conference.

The #3 doubles team, Collins and freshman Scott Strough, rounded out the SLIAC honors. The team went 5-4 during the season and finished the conference season with a perfect 3-0 record.

The Westminster men’s tennis team graduates the lone senior, Alec Belden, this Saturday.
